Aggression - is any behavior aimed at another organism with the intent to harm, cause pain, or humiliate. The two types of behaviors that humans often resort to when displaying aggression are physical behavior and verbal behavior. In this textbook, there are two major types of Aggression that are distinguished.
The two major types of Aggression discussed in this textbook are Hostile Aggression and Instrumental Aggression. While other forms of Aggression exist, they are considered subcategories of these two aforementioned types or may not necessarily fit into one. For example, Passive Aggression is a Defense Mechanism that may manifest itself in a Hostile or Instrumental form.
