Persistence – One of the Sins of Memory proposed by Daniel Schacter. It pertains to the unwanted and unintentional recall of memories (Kowalski & Westen, 2009).

The remembrance can range from a blunder on the job to a truly traumatic experience, and the persistent recall can lead to the formation of Phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and even suicide in especially persistent cases (Wikipedia/Sins_of_Memory).
