Action Potential - one of three possible states of a Neuron; commonly used to describe when a Neuron fires. During an Action Potential, the Nucleus initiates and sends an electrochemical signal that facilitates neuronal communication; for this reason, this process is often compared to the act of pulling a gun trigger after deciding the appropriate time to do so.

The Action Potential occurs when the polarity of a Neuron reaches -50 mV as a result of one or more Graded Potentials (typically Hyperpolarization).
The Neuron then resets itself to the Resting Potential State in as little as 2 milliseconds.
